Dalton Knecht returned to action with the LA Lakers against the Toronto Raptors Friday night. The rookie recorded his best game of the season against the Cleveland Cavaliers, scoring 18 points on 50% shooting from the field, grabbing three rebounds and dishing one assist.
He played 14 of 24 minutes against the Raptors, scoring five points in the first half of this game on 2-from-3 from the field and 1-from-2 from deep. He grabbed one rebound and committed a turnover as the Lakers finished the first half up 76-51.
Dalton Knecht only played two minutes in the third quarter of the game, as the Lakers found themselves in a complex position against the Raptors. The Eastern Conference squad dominated the third period with a 37-23 win that cut the lead from 25 to 11 points.

The game became more competitive in the second half, meaning that Knecht's opportunities to play decreased. He only played three minutes in the fourth quarter and his numbers didn't suffer major alterations. Knecht finished the game with five points, two rebounds and one assist. The bright side is that the Lakers won despite a comeback attempt from Toronto in the second half.

Dalton Knecht played more minutes than player LeBron James is apparently frustrated with
After his 18-point game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, which is the highest this season among the 2024 rookie class, Dalton Knecht arrived at Scotiabank Arena keen to keep his hot streak, but his participation was discreet. That said, Knecht finished the night with more minutes than Max Christie, who has been under the spotlight for his recent performances.
He only attempted a field goal, which he made, and the rest of his points were the result of free-throw attempts. Still, Knecht stayed on the court six more minutes than Christie. Max has had a rough start to the season and his numbers could be frustrating LeBron James, hence opening the door for another player to take some of his minutes.
After earning a four-year, $32 million contract, he was expected to have a bigger role with the Lakers, but the lights appear to be too bright for him. Christie is averaging 3.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 27.8 from the field.
Dalton Knecht averages 8.2 ppg, 1.2 rpg and 1.2 apg while shooting 45.2% from the field.
