Cleveland Cavaliers guard Danny Green

Danny Green will likely make his Cleveland Cavaliers debut tonight after joining the team via the buyout market.

The three-time NBA champion began his career with the Cavaliers after they made him the 46th overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft. Green played just 20 games for the Cavaliers, all in his rookie season of 2009-2010, averaging just 5.8 minutes per game.

Green averaged just 2.0 points, 0.9 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.2 blocks per game while shooting 38.5% from the field, 27.3% from 3-point range and 66.7% from the free-throw line. Following the season, Green was waived by the Cavaliers and picked up by the San Antonio Spurs.

While he did not immediately receive playing time, by his second season in San Antonio, Green became a rotation regular with the Spurs. The following season, Green became a starter while breaking the record for the most three-pointers made in an NBA Finals as he connected on 27 triples in the 2012-2013 NBA Finals. His record has since been broken by Steph Curry, who made 32 three-pointers in the 2015-2016 NBA Finals and 31 three-pointers in the 2021-2022 NBA Finals.

Green would win his first championship as a member of the Spurs in 2013-2014. He spent eight seasons with the franchise before being traded to the Toronto Raptors in the 2018 offseason. Green helped the Raptors win their only championship in franchise history in 2018-2019 before joining the LA Lakers as a free agent following the season. He picked up his third title as a member of the Lakers in 2019-2020.
