The bench came through for the Boston Celtics as they beat the Los Angeles Lakers 96-89 in Game 4, to tie the NBA Finals 2-2 at the TD Garden, on Friday.
The Lakers led 62-60 at the end of the third period when Big Baby Glen Davis and Nate Robinson rose to the occasion. The 290 pound Davis, had quite an outing with 18 points, laced with reverse lay-ups, steals, offensive rebounds and fast breaks. Davis, usually recognized by his easy-going attitude, the funny faces he makes, stole the show and it seemed the Lakers overlooked a startling fact – he can play.

Robinson too stepped up, playing in the moment and proving he’s not one to get bogged down by the big occasion. Heck, he even got a technical for getting in Lamar Odom’s face… only thing being that he’s just over a couple of feet shorter than Odom.

Paul Pierce added 19 points, Kevin Garnett had 13 and Ray Allen netted 12.
For the defending champions, it was Kobe Bryant who once again led the charge with 33 points and Pau Gasol chipped in with 21. However, they got outrebounded 41-34 and outscored in the paint 54-34, that eventually allowed the Celtics to claw back.
Meanwhile, Boston’s foul troubles seem to flaring up. Rasheed Wallace earned another $2000 fine by taking his tally of technical fouls to six in the playoffs. One more would take his total to seven, which would result in a one-game suspension. Doc Rivers’ side can’t afford that, with a Game 6 now guaranteed at Staples Center.
Game 5 will be played on Sunday in Boston.
