DeMar DeRozan trade: Looking at top 3 potential destinations if Chicago Bulls star chooses to move

Chicago Bulls v Golden State Warriors
DeMar DeRozan could be on the move this season.

DeMar DeRozan is the Chicago Bulls' top star on the team. He's averaging 26 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game.

The shooting guard signed a three-year contract worth $81.9 million with the Bulls last season. He's now playing in the second season of his contract, but it might not be too long before he decides to move on from the team.

Last season, DeRozan suddenly revived his career and became one of the league's top shooting guards. He averaged a career-high 27.9 points per game, accompanied by 5.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists. His top-tier performances helped him be named an All-Star for the first time in three seasons.

Not only did he suddenly get a second wind, but DeRozan also helped the Bulls improve their record and secure a playoff spot. Before his arrival, the 2020-21 Bulls had a 31-41 record and were 11th in the East. Last season, Chicago returned to the playoffs as the sixth seed in the East with a 46-36 record, thanks to some major help from DeRozan.

Unfortunately, it appears that the DeRozan effect could be on the wane in Chicago. While the veteran guard is still putting up stellar performances on a nightly basis, his efforts haven't been enough to carry the team. Chicago is a disappointing 14-19 on the season and 11th in their conference. Considering the same, DeRozan could decide to pack his bags and go somewhere else.

Top 3 Teams DeMar DeRozan could end up at

Here's a look at three such teams:

#1 LA Lakers

Before signing with the Chicago Bulls, everyone thought that DeMar DeRozan would be playing for the LA Lakers last season. Apparently, the Lakers had other plans and decided to pursue Russell Westbrook instead. That, however, doesn't mean that the door to seeing DeRozan suit up for the Purple and Gold is out of the question.

At the moment, LA is still exploring their options to contend for a title while LeBron James is still strong and healthy. There have been rumors circulating that the Lakers want to trade for Bradley Beal. If the team is eyeing a shooting guard anyway, the next best option would be trading for DeRozan.

#2 Brooklyn Nets

Despite all the struggles the Brooklyn Nets have had recently, the team remains among the top ones in the East.

Both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are doing everything they can to carry their team to victory. However, Ben Simmons isn't living up to the task. Trading him for DeMar DeRozan could be a huge upgrade for the Nets and could make them a title contender.

#3 Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets are atop the Western Conference, thanks to their two-time league MVP Nikola Jokic carrying the team on a nightly basis.

Jokic, though, lacks support from teammates and could be in need of a complementing duo soon. If Denver decides to trade for DeMar DeRozan, they could become more solid.
