Fact Check: Did Jalen Rose get fired from ESPN? Viral Malika Andrews video tweet debunked

Former NBA player Jalen Rose has been working for ESPN since his retirement in 2007. A new viral report has claimed that Rose was fired by the network due to an incident with fellow analyst Malika Andrews.

According to ButtCrack Sports on Twitter, Rose was let go by ESPN for inappropriate behavior that was allegedly caught on video. Andrews can be heard telling Rose, who has his arm over her, to get his hands off her.

However, it should be noted that the report is false, and the audio in the said video is edited. ButtCrack Sports is a famous parody and satire account known for making up headlines. They recently reported that LeBron James was suspended by the LA Lakers for speeding.

Jalen Rose's ESPN career

Jalen Rose had a 13-year NBA career that started with the Denver Nuggets. Rose also played for the Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns. He was the league's Most Improved Player in 2000, when he helped the Pacers make their first NBA Finals appearance.

After retiring in 2007, Rose joined ESPN as an analyst and has made appearances on "First Take," "Get Up," "NBA Countdown," "SportsCenter" and "ESPN Radio." He was also the co-host of "Jalen & Jacoby" until late last year, when David Jacoby left ESPN to join The Ringer.

Apart from his work with ESPN, Jalen Rose formed a partnership with The New York Post in 2020. Rose makes several write-ups for them and hosts his own podcast "Renaissance Man."

Malika Andrews' ESPN career

Malika Andrews is one of the youngest journalists on the ESPN roster. Andrews started her career with the network as an online writer in 2018. She made her broadcasting debut during the NBA bubble in the middle the COVID-19 pandemic three years ago.

Before her career at ESPN, she worked for the Denver Post, the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune. She gained more prominence after replacing Rachel Nichols as ABC's sideline reporter for the 2021 NBA Finals.

Andrews also became the host of "NBA Today," which replaced Nichols' show "The Jump." Nichols was removed from air by ESPN after an audio leak, where she had made some remarks about her fellow analyst Maria Taylor.

The 28-year-old personality won her first Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Personality/Emerging On-Air Talent last year. She also made history as the first woman to host the NBA draft last year.
