FIBA U19 Women's World Championship: China and Japan in quarterfinals

Asian giants China and Japan enter the quarterfinals of the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women held at Lithuania. China and Japan were qualified from FIBA ASIA to the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women after they were winner and runners up in the 21st FIBA ASIA U18 Championship for Women held in 2012 in Malaysia.

Japan picked the last quarterfinal spot from Group E beating Russia 88 – 78 in the do-or -die match for them. While China defeated Netherlands 73 – 61 in the Group F final match to claim third spot in the group and secure the berth in the quarterfinals of the championship.

Meanwhile the third Asian team in the Championship, Korea beat Mali 76 – 57 in the classification match to finish in the 13th spot of the championship. China will face Australia in the quarterfinals while Japan will take on four time defending champion USA in the quarterfinal of the championship.

Quarterfinals Line up:

- Spain v Canada

- Brazil v France

- Australia v China

- Japan v USA

Total of 16 teams, including three from Asia, qualified for the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women which is being held at Lithuania. The final of the championship is scheduled for 28 July 2013.
