Golden Eagle National Invitational Championships 2013, Day 3: Central Excise, Kochi registers its second win

The four men’s Group B teams took to the floor on day three of the Golden Eagle National Invitation Basketball Championships at J.J. Stadium, Chennai. Central Excise & Customs, which was down by 13 points (24-37) at half time, came back strongly in the second half to overwhelm the Punjab State team (70-60). With their second straight win, Central Excise remains unbeaten and tops Group B. The traditionally strong Punjab State is now 0-2 and on the verge of being knocked out at the league stage itself.

IOB Chennai, one of the favourites of this tournament, put behind its horror loss in its first game against Central Excise, to win convincingly against Indian Air Force, Delhi. After yesterday’s game, both IOB Chennai and Indian Air Force are 1-1 in Group B.

Later this evening, in a Group A game, ONGC, Dehradun will look to win its second match in a row when it takes on the Army team from Delhi.
