Golden State Warriors vs Portland Trail Blazers Preview
The Warriors looked like a different beast last season after they traded for Jimmy Butler. While their season ended in the conference semifinals after Steph Curry went down with a hamstring injury, the duo have been great to start the season.
Curry, especially, was at his absolute best Thursday against the Denver Nuggets. Aaron Gordon had a career night with 50 points and 10 3-pointers, but Curry spoiled the party with 42 points, seven assists, six rebounds, six 3-pointers and three steals, as Golden State won 137-131 in OT.
Butler chipped in with 21 points, while Draymond Green had 13 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. The Warriors will be without Al Horford as the 39-year-old veteran won’t play both games of back-to-backs this season. Golden State coach Steve Kerr expects Moses Moody to make his season debut Friday.
The Trail Blazers were prolific in the first three quarters of their season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday before collapsing in the final period to lose 118-114. Jerami Grant came off the bench for 29 points, while Deni Avdija had 20 points.
Things only got worse for the team on Thursday morning as coach Chauncey Billups was arrested on charges of counts of conspiracy to commit fraud. Tiago Splitter will take over as interim head coach.
Other than Horford, the Warriors will be without De’Anthony Melton (knee) and Alex Toohey (knee). Portland will be without Damian Lillard (Achilles) for the season, while Scoot Henderson (hamstring) and Robert Williams III (knee) are out Friday.

Golden State Warriors vs Portland Trail Blazers Prediction and Betting Tips
The oddsmakers favor the Trail Blazers to get a win at home. The Warriors might have tired legs in the second game of a back-to-back set, but expect Curry and Co. to pull through and get a win against a franchise that should be clearly in shock after what transpired Thursday.
This should be a high-scoring game with the team total surpassing the 225.5-point mark.
