Has Russell Westbrook been suspended from NBA Playoffs 2024 Game 4? Viral rumor debunked

Dallas Mavericks v Los Angeles Clippers - Game Two
Russell Westbrook suspended for game 4 of Playoffs?

The Dallas Mavericks are now up 2-1 after beating the LA Clippers in Game 3 but beyond the winners and losers is a fourth-quarter incident that involved Russell Westbrook and PJ Washington. Both players were ejected from the game and some basketball fans have been asking if there are suspensions for either figure in the altercation.

In a viral post, Westbrook has been reported that he is suspended for Game 4 and would not be suiting up for the Clippers against the Mavs.

However, this post came from a fake Adrian Wojnarowski account and many are deceived that the news that came out from this X handle is legit. There has been no official announcement by the league that they will be suspending the former league MVP in Game 4.

The fake Woj account has fooled a lot of social media followers as the X handle has a verified check that was used primarily to legitimize accounts until Elon Musk changed the requirements when he bought the company.

Any news coming from the fake Adrian Wojnarowski account should not be taken in as a fact since it also shows in the handle that it is clearly used for satire.

What happened to Russell Westbrook?

For those who missed Game 3 between the Dallas Mavericks and LA Clippers, Russell Westbrook was caught in an altercation with PJ Washington causing them to be ejected in the fourth quarter.

As Westbrook shoved an approaching Luka Doncic, Washington came to the aid of his teammate. In doing so, Washington pushed away Westbrook from behind to stay away from Doncic.

In retaliation, Russell Westbrook pushed Washington back harder with a closed fist. Since both players involved in the altercation already had technical fouls, it is an automatic ejection by the referees.

“Always got to protect 77 at all costs,” said Washington when asked about the on-court altercation. "So I mean obviously it was a hard foul and then he pushed him afterward, so I was right there and I just had to step into it.”

Russell Westbrook struggled to find his shot against the Mavericks on Game 3 making no field goals in seven tries. He finished the game with three rebounds, one assist, one steal, two blocks and one point coming off the bench logging in 19 minutes. On the other hand, Washington left the game with 10 points and five rebounds.

Game 4 between the LA Clippers and Dallas Mavericks happens on April 28. Both teams clash inside the Crypto.com arena with the live television broadcast beginning at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
