Everyone looks for approval from senior figures and a bit of a push from them to make it big, but here is a youngster has proved that social media is just as powerful when one needs recognition in all walks of life.

Meet Prudhvi Reddy the point guard player of Mumbai Challengers. Starting as a cricketer from his school days, playing the game up to Grade VI, Prudhvi failed to catch the eye of the selectors and opted for basketball. His hard work on the court saw people commenting about his basketball gifts.

This Telangana player, a resident of Hyderabad, posted his games on YouTube and soon he got a call from Euro Basketball Academy, SantCugat del Valles, Province of Barcelona, Spain in for professional basketball. And thus his innings in basketball began. This happened in the year 2013 and since then he has been on the high, and with the UBA making inroads in the country, things look bright this hoopster.

Talking about his journey, he said, "It has been topsy-turvy for me when it came to take up a sport. Cricketer, football and now basketball."

“I started with cricket and played the game up to grade VI, but I did not find solace in the game as I was not given a place of recognition. And quite frustrated with the things were going especially with my recreation, I saw some of my friends playing basketball, I joined them and became one of the best players,” said the former student of St Mary’s in Hyderabad.

Today he is one of the top players for the Mumbai side and played a vital role in propelling Mumbai into the playoffs in the ongoing UBA Pro Basketball League.

Playing abroad has given this hoopster an edge over the others. “It is something many of us miss out. It could be any game, but the experience and exposure one gets abroad changes the entire output of any athlete. I played in Spain and then in Inter-college in US, and playing on foreign soil makes one strong and build his/her self-confidence,” said Prudhvi.
