India win third match on the trot; beat Bhutan 119-52 in the SABA qualifiers

The Indian Basketball team continued their fine run

The Indian Basketball team registered their third consecutive win on the trot on Saturday, defeating Bhutan 119-52 in the South Asian Basketball qualifiers at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts In Bengaluru on Saturday.

The opening quarter saw the Indians race away to a 39-6 lead and they maintained that pressure on the opposition, ending the second quarter with a 33-pont lead.

The other side of the half saw India continue to dominate proceedings, not allowing Bhutan take any control of the match. Onc they finished the third quarter with a scoreline of 92-42, it was always going to take a miracle for Bhutan to come back and seal the match. That miracle though didn’t happen as India won quite convincingly 119-52 in the end.

For the hosts, it was Gurinder Singh Gill, who put in a spirited performance, scoring 20 points while Arvind A also provided good support, netting in 19 points. Joginder Singh Saharan also had a good match, scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

For Bhutan, Rinchen Dorji had a good game, scoring 14 points while Karam Singye scored 8 points for the visitors.

India next play Maldives on Sunday.
