IOB and Southern Railway emerges winners in Chennai

The finals of the SNJ No.1 All Star Trophy concluded today the 5^th February 2011, here at Chennai.

Thiru R.Ilangovan, Hon’ry Secretary, Tamil Nadu Basketball Association presided over the function, and Thiru.K.V.Rangaswami, member of Board & President-Construction, Larsen & Toubro Limited was the Chief guest.

The Prize money for the tournament was Rs.25,000 for Men’s Winners and Rs.20,000 for runner’s-up. And Rs.15,000 for Women’s winners and Rs.10,000 for women’s runners-up.

The first match was the women’s finals between Southern Railway and SRM Rising Star BC. Geethu Anna Jose, captain of Southern railway led her team to victory with her 17 points. The match was held tie at 18-18 during the half-break, but the southern Railway emerged winners at the end with 45 points.

In the Men’s finals between IOB and Indian bank, Abilek Paul helped IOB in winning the match by scoring 20 points.

Women’s finals:

Southern railway 45 (Geethu Anna Jose 17, Kokila 11) bt SRM Rising Star BC 25 (Sangeetha 10, Karpagam 10)
