Karl-Anthony Towns is cleared to play for the New York Knicks against the Detroit Pistons on Friday. Towns sprained his left wrist in a 116-107 win over the Miami Heat on Wednesday and was on the injury report ahead of the game.
KAT, who was acquired in early October from the Minnesota Timberwolves, has adjusted well with the Knicks. In four games thus far, he has averaged 22.5 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He is shooting 58.5% from the floor, including 72.7% from the 3-point line and 95.2% from the charity stripe.
Despite the injury on Wednesday, Karl-Anthony Towns scored a season-high 44 points against Miami. He shot 17 of 25 from the field, including four of five from beyond the arc. He also had 13 rebounds. There was no indication of the injury after the game, as he told reporters, via the New York Post:
“Just wanted to do whatever I can to help us win. My teammates out there on the court put the trust in me with the basketball and the coaching staff, amazing game plan by them. I just wanted to repay their trust.”

Besides Towns, the Knicks will also be without Mitchell Robinson (ankle), Precious Achiuwa (sprained left hamstring) and Kevin McCullar Jr. (knee). If Towns is deemed unfit after the morning shootaround, expect Jericho Sims to see extended minutes.
