Steph Curry is listed as day-to-day for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Pistons and is unlikely to play. Curry jammed his right index finger late in the second quarter against the Sacramento Kings on Friday. He didn’t return for the rest of the game.

Curry played a total of 16 minutes for six points, four assists and three rebounds. The Golden State Warriors are 3-0 to start the preseason, as they won Friday’s game 109-106 despite trailing for most of the second half.

While the four-time champion’s injury isn’t that serious, Golden State is expected to be cautious with its superstar. Besides Curry, the team will also be without Andrew Wiggins on Sunday, as per NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dalton Johnson. Wiggins is dealing with an undisclosed illness and hasn’t featured in any of the preseason games so far.

Golden State coach Steve Kerr said Steph Curry's injury had him “nervous”

When Steph Curry was seen walking to the locker room on Friday, it had Golden State Warriors fans worried, including coach Steve Kerr. When he was asked post-game if he was anxious regarding the severity of the injury, Kerr said, via NBC Sports Bay Area:

“Always. Steph is Steph, so. I was assured at halftime that he was fine. X-rays were negative. It wasn’t anything too concerning. But, yeah, you always get nervous when he gets hurt.”

The Warriors avoided a major mishap with the X-rays returning negative for their star player. As per Steve Kerr, Curry was supposed to get extended minutes in the game:

“He was going to actually play into the third quarter tonight for the first time [this preseason]. But when he jammed his finger, it made no sense to send him back out there.”

While fans must be disheartened that Curry couldn’t be a part of the Golden State’s comeback win, they must find solace in the fact that the injury wasn’t serious. Steph Curry seems to be on pace to feature on opening night against the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 23.
