Jamal Murray has been with the Denver Nuggets for seven seasons now. He's only played in six of those seven seasons due to his ACL injury last season. Ever since Nikola Jokic became an All-Star for the first time in the 2018-19 season, Murray has been the "Joker's" sidekick. The Nuggets became one of the top teams in the West when the duo's dynamic was established.

As of December 28, Jamal Murray is averaging 18.1 points, 5.6 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game this season. Murray is undeniably a talented guard who also happens to be the Nuggets' second-best player. However, since he is constantly living in Nikola Jokic's shadow, the NBA fails to recognize just how good Jamal really is.

With that said, it wouldn't be a surprise if Murray suddenly decides to jump ship and explore his options. Let's take a look at the top three teams that the Nuggets star could move to in the future.

Top 3 Teams Jamal Murray could end up in

#1 Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings have been surprisingly good this season. In fact, there's a huge possibility that the team could make the playoffs for the first time since 2006. The Kings consist of young talents like De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. Bringing in another young player like Jamal Murray could further improve Sacramento's lineup.

Joining the Kings could also be beneficial for Murray. There isn't a true superstar on the team right now, based on their current roster. Only Fox has the chance to make the All-Star game for the first time this season. Otherwise, there are no other shadows for Jamal to lurk in. He could have a bigger opportunity if he decides to unite with the Kings.

#2 Dallas Mavericks

Luka Doncic is unquestionably the Dallas Mavericks' most prized possession since Dirk Nowitzki retired. While the Mavs are also top contenders in the West, the team currently lacks more solid pieces to help Doncic take Dallas to the next level. Getting rid of Spencer Dinwiddie for a much younger Jamal Murray could be the key to their success.

Looking at this potential trade, Murray's situation will more or less be the same as living in Nikola Jokic's shadow. However, given how amazing Luka has been this season, this could be Jamal's chance at truly contending for an NBA title.

#3 LA Lakers

At this point, it's safe to say that the LA Lakers need all the help that they can get. LA is currently dealing with a plethora of problems. These problems include Anthony Davis' injury problems, an aging superstar in LeBron James, and a lack of depth on their roster. While the Lakers are currently looking for the right pieces to help them win, Jamal Murray could be a perfect fit.

LeBron James is still the team's leader and best player, however, he's also the type to make his teammates shine. Murray could just be the shooter that LBJ needs.
