Tatum sat out another game, and Brown was able to take over the offense. Brown scored 42 points on a very efficient 16-28 while shooting 5-8 from three. He contributed another nine rebounds in a 12 point loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Brown’s 57% from the field and 63% from three helped in a highly efficient night, but sadly his scoring output was not enough. He did step up in Tatum’s absence but had very little more help from the rest of the team on offense.

Brown also made less of an impact on defense, only recording a steal and a block, as he had to turn his attention more to the offensive side of the court.

#2 Jaylen Brown, 42 points, 12/20/20 vs. Memphis Grizzlies

Jaylen Brown shot the heck out of the ball from three in his 42 point win over the Memphis Grizzlies. He scored his 42 points in just 29 minutes, making seven threes, for his career's third most made threes. Brown put up 18 points in the second quarter alone and followed that up with 16 in the third. He ended up sitting out the entire fourth quarter because of how big of a lead Brown had put the Celtics in.

In those 29 minutes, Brown was able to take just 21 shots, making 15 of them, and going 7-10 from three. He shot 71% from the field and was hot whenever he had the ball in his hands. Brown added three more free throws on six attempts.

Brown pretty much just offered up his scoring for the game, only tallying four rebounds, three assists and one steal. However, his scoring night was the second-best of his career, as he put up an efficient 42 points in no time whatsoever.

What a way to start the 2021-22 NBA season for Jaylen Brown, setting a new scoring career-high in a double-overtime loss to the New York Knicks. In the 46 minutes that Brown played, he put up 46 points, which is not the most efficient point-to-minute ratio on this list, but it is still his career-high in points.

Brown did shoot 53% from the field on 30 attempts while making eight threes, the second-most of his career, shooting 57% from behind the arc. Brown started hot, scoring 20 points in the first quarter, only missing two shots and making all three of his three-point attempts.

It was Brown's most complete game as he added nine rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block. He dominated the game and hit some clutch threes down the stretch to keep the Celtics close late.
