The Ball Brother sign deal with Prienu Vytautas

What's the story?

LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball have reached an agreement to sign professional basketball deals with Lithuanian club Prienu Vytautas.

In case you didn't know...

LiAngelo and LaMelo are the younger brothers of Los Angeles Lakers' rookie guard Lonzo Ball.

LiAngelo withdrew from UCLA after they suspended him indefinitely due to a shoplifting incident in China. LaMelo was a junior in high school but dropped out. LaVar has plans to have both LiAngelo and LaMelo bypass college basketball and search out pro jobs overseas.

The heart of the matter...

Team's coach/GM Virginijus Seskus and Ball family agent Harrison Gaines told ESPN's Jeff Goodman that the Ball brothers and the European teams have finalized on an agreement on Monday afternoon.

This emerging organization hopes to gain some publicity from the Ball Brothers and father LaVar Ball. But there are some serious concerns to whether the players can adjust into Vytautas on any level.

Vytautas plays in the Lithuanian (LKL) league and also plays Baltic League. The team has agreed on a playing time of 20 to 25 minutes per game in the Baltic League and therefore the Ball Brothers are most likely to see significant playing time in this lesser competitive league than in Vytautas.

LaMelo, at 6-foot-3, has the shot making the ability to along with his creative ball handling abilities and a good distributor of the ball. Despite his unconventional shooting technique, the 16-year-old is a budding shooter and has the potential to play in the NBA someday. But his shot selection is questionable and has struggled to impact the game.

LiAngelo, at 6-foot-5, is a limited ball handler and defender and plays strictly below the rim and therefore is not expected to add any value to in the Lithuanian or Baltic leagues.

What's next?

The Ball Brothers will start to play in Europe and their performance in Vytautas will decide their fate in the NBA.

Author's take

It will be interesting to see how the two brothers adapt to the different style of play in Lithuania and perform in the Baltic league.
