The Pelicans signed J.J Redick to a two-year, $26.5m contract during the offseason as the team eyed a playoff push. However, New Orleans' number one pick Zion Williamson has yet to play due to injury, and the team has also been crippled by several other absences on their way to making a dismal 6-19 start to the 19-20 campaign.

With the team well out of contention, there is growing speculation that Redick could be dealt ahead of the trade deadline, and NBC Sports believes the veteran could emerge as a potential target for the Heat:

If not Lowry, then New Orleans Pelicans guard JJ Redick could be a target of the Heat. Despite going separate ways this summer, Redick and Butler grew close in Philadelphia as like-minded competitors and, per a source, to this day they maintain regular communication through a group chat forged in Philadelphia.

Redick is among the best three-point shooters in the league, and through 24 appearances for the Pelicans this season, the 35-year-old is averaging 15.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
