Nate Robinson is dealing with a very serious issue. Considering how important kidneys are, it's not surprising that he's decided to reveal his struggles. The former NBA player would also love to help others who are dealing with the same problem.

"I am currently undergoing treatment for Renal Kidney Failure and have been privately dealing with it for the last four years," Robinson wrote.

There are many different causes of kidney failure, but the two most common causes are diabetes and high blood pressure. Considering that Nate Robinson has been an athlete for more than two decades, he may have had issues with higher blood pressure at some point.

The former Slam Dunk champion revealed that he's been receiving treatment for his illness for the past four years. He hasn't revealed if he's made any progress, but considering that kidney disease is likely to get worse over time, he may never be the same again.

He played for eight different teams during his professional career, but is best known for his tenure with the New York Knicks. This is where spent five seasons and became a legendary dunker.

During the 2009 Slam Dunk Contest, Robinson jumped over Dwight Howard, winning the competition. The point guard won the competition three times, more than any other player in the league's history.
