#1 Enes Kanter

Despite being one of the most entertaining and likable players in the NBA, Enes Kanter's ability to play for a top NBA team remains in question. The Knicks have aspirations to be contenders next season, and Kanter has failed to prove he has the ability to start for a top team.

Kanter is able to gather rebounds and score 20 points on any given night, however, his defense is deeply flawed and the player's weakness has often been exploited by rivals. The 2017 playoffs demonstrated this, as Kanter's defensive fragility was exploited in the opening game by the Rockets, and this meant that Billy Donovan had no choice but to bench Kanter for the remainder of the series.

Kanter is a free agent this summer, and his $18,622,513 contract does not represent value to a Knicks organization that has deliberately cleared cap space so that it can sign at least one superstar. With the Knicks not challenging for the playoffs this season, there is no reason to keep Kanter, and the team should see if they can acquire a draft pick in return for the 26-year-old.
