#4 RJ Barrett - New York Knicks

In the weeks leading up to 2020, it appeared that RJ Barrett had fallen out of the mix to be named Rookie of the Year, although the Duke product has refound form over the past three weeks to re-establish himself as a potential contender. In all four of his appearances in Week 12, Barrett reached double digits in points, and the 19-year-old held his own against the Lakers as he scored 19 points on 9 of 19 shooting from the field.

The Toronto native also recorded 23 points in 40 minutes against the Heat - and his work on the defensive end has also improved. Barrett is still shooting under 40 percent from the field, although he is among the top 5 rookies in total points, rebounds, assists, and steals per game.

#3 Tyler Herro - Miami Heat

The Miami Heat didn't enjoy a great week as they suffered back-to-back defeats to the Nets and Knicks, although Tyler Herro once again provided plenty of production from the reserve unit. Herro's best performance came during Miami's only win of the week against the Pacers as he dropped 19 points in 26 minutes while connecting with 5 of his 8 attempts from deep.

The 19-year-old also recorded 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in the defeat to the Nets - before posting 15 points in 22 minutes against the Knicks. Evidently, his inability to break into Miami's starting lineup will continue to hurt his chances of being named Rookie of the Year, although few other first-year players can better his tally of 13.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest.
