NBA analyst believes Anthony Davis is wildly underperforming for LA Lakers in his supposed 'prime'- "How is LeBron averaging more points, rebounds, assists and minutes than him?"

The LA Lakers are counting on Anthony Davis to step up this season. Davis has filled up the stat sheet in his first three games. But it hasn't led to wins.

The 29-year-old big man is averaging 24.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks. Davis is shooting 50.9% from the field and just 20.0% from 3-point range. With LeBron James in his 20th season, AD has the opportunity to take the reins of the organization.

Time is running out for Anthony Davis to cement himself as the future cornerstone of the franchise. On a recent episode of "What's Wright," analyst Nick Wright expressed concern about the "underwhelming play" of Davis.

Wright first praised LeBron James for playing at a high level this late in his career.

"LeBron James is the third oldest player in the whole league. All he's done so far is give you 27, 11 and 7. Last night's game, he gave you 31, 8 and 8. Did he miss the game-winner? He did miss the game-winner. Should he have ever been in the position to where they needed a game winner, of course not."

Wright went on to question Anthony Davis' play. He pointed out that James is leading the Lakers in minutes played and other statistical categories.

"He's also leading the Lakers in minutes, how is LeBron averaging more points, rebound, assists and minutes than Anthony Davis? How is that possible when Anthony Davis is supposed to be in his prime."

Anthony Davis and the LA Lakers look to get back on track

The LA Lakers have struggled to start the season. They have lost their first three games. Life isn't going to get any easier for them. They are set to take on some challenging opponents.

After a disappointing loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, the Lakers will hit the road for a pair of games. They will face the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves. Both were playoff teams last season. They are expected to be in the mix for the top seed in the Western Conference.

The Lakers will then host the Nuggets at home before taking on an emerging New Orleans Pelicans team. Things could get out of hand in a hurry if they don't get back on track.

If the Lakers have any chance of putting some wins together, they are going to have to improve their shooting. This starts with Davis, who has the talent to be a dominant offensive force.

LeBron James has done everything he can, but the Lakers will need someone else to step up. The hope is that Davis can finally be the player who is expected to take over the franchise.
