Moving into true contender territory, the Boston Celtics could be a great option for DeMarcus Cousins during NBA Free Agency 2020.
The Celtics made a very good run in the 2020 NBA playoffs, which ended at the hands of the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals. What the team lacks is a skilled big man, who can shoot from behind the arc and also operate in the paint.
If DeMarcus Cousins can return to the level he was at with the Golden State Warriors in his final season in San Francisco, he could be an important veteran piece for this young Boston Celtics side.
#2 LA Clippers
The LA Clippers invited criticism from all angles after their disappointing display in the 2020 NBA playoffs. The team is in win-now mode and need a player that can make an instant impact.
While DeMarcus Cousins' fitness isn't guaranteed, the Clippers could be tempted to gamble on the big man. Montrezl Harrell's future remains uncertain, while Ivica Zubac and Joakim Noah have obvious limitations. Cousins would be an upgrade on the offensive end of the floor.
With the LA Clippers looking to compete for next year's NBA championship, Coach Lue needs reinforcements and fast. Could DeMarcus Cousins make the move across Los Angeles?
#1 Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors will have Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson back next season. While the duo is enough to transform GSW into contenders once more, they still require a championship-caliber center.
While DeMarcus Cousins has almost certainly lost a couple of steps, his skillset as a stretch five could give GSW a viable third option in the clutch. Defense was never Cousins' area of expertise but he would bring a large presence to Golden State's undersized roster.
Like DeMarcus Cousins, the Warriors are making a comeback after an injury-hit season and will be looking to make a statement. Boogie's best shot could be a return to San Francisco.
