The first overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft, Anthony Davis was touted for greatness ever since he first stepped onto an NBA court.

Davis averaged 13.5 points and 8.2 rebounds in his rookie season with the New Orleans Hornets and was named in the All-Rookie First Team.

Phenomenal in pick-and-roll situations when he first entered the league, Davis soon added to his repertoire by developing a jump shot and also improving his post-up play. That paid rich dividends as he made the All-Star team in just his second season in the league and also finished third in the voting for NBA's Most Improved Player Award.

Davis continued to develop his game at a rapid pace and led the Pelicans to the playoffs in 2014/15 with astonishing performances, including a 36-point, 14-rebound, 9-block and 7-assist effort in a game against the Denver Nuggets, becoming the first player in NBA history to register such a statline.

He finished the season with sensational averages of 24.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks and set numerous records in the playoffs despite the Pelicans' exit at the hands of eventual champions Golden State Warriors.

Despite being bogged down by serious injuries the next few years, Davis continued to perform at a high level. The Pelicans' lack of a supporting cast meant he was forced to request a trade in January 2019 following which he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers this off-season, teaming up with LeBron James.

The duo has taken the NBA by storm this season, making the Lakers the favorites for the championship. LeBron's presence has hardly hindered Davis as he's averaging 27.7 points and 9.4 rebounds and is a serious contender for the MVP award.
