NBA Monday: Steph Curry stars in close Warriors victory over Blazers

In a game that went down to the wire, the Golden State Warriors played home side Portland Trail Blazers in Game 4 of the Western Conference semi-finals and edged them out in extra overtime.

The game saw a constantly-shifting lead, with the Blazers holding a 16-point advantage over the visitors at one point. Damien Lillard top scored for the home side with 36 points and 10 assists, and was ably backed by CJ McCollum with 24.

But the night belonged to reigning MVP Stephen Curry. The 28-year-old, who is about to be named the 2016 MVP, scored 40 points during the match – 17 of those in overtime, despite having been benched for the majority of the match.

Teammate Draymond Green was another star of the night, contributing 21 points and 9 assists during the game.

Curry excelled today following his injury, sustained in the opening rounds of the 2016 playoffs. A slip on a wet patch of floor saw Curry sustain a Grade 1 sprain in his right knee, with today’s game against the Blazers his first match after the injury.
