Buddy Hield and the Sacramento Kings have until Oct. 21 to agree to a contract extension or the 26-year-old will become a restricted free agent next summer. Hield has previously expressed his desire to remain with the franchise, and Jason Jones of The Athletic is reporting that the Bahamian is willing to accept less than a max extension:

Hield told the Sacramento Bee that I know what I’m worth in contract talks. He’s an elite 3-point shooter, a necessity in today’s NBA... A league source said Hield is willing to accept less than the max he’s eligible for but doesn’t want an offer that would be an “insult.”

During the 2018-19 season, Hield averaged 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. The shooting guard also knocked down 43% of his three-point attempts as he continued to enhance his reputation as one of the NBA's elite shooters.
