#3 Celtics discussed blockbuster three-way trade to keep Al Horford while also landing Kemba Walker
Earlier this week, Al Horford hinted that he would have remained with the Boston Celtics if he had been assured that Kemba Walker would replace Kyrie Irving as point guard. Nevertheless, Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald is reporting that while talks over a blockbuster three-way trade took place, Horford refused to wait and headed to the Sixers on a four-year deal:

The Celtics would have had to execute a three-way trade that got Kyrie Irving to Brooklyn, Terry Rozier to Charlotte and Walker to the Celtics. The problem that ultimately derailed all of this before it could get close was Horford perhaps not wanting to wait to see if these gears could mesh.
The Celtics eventually concluded a deal for Kemba Walker, while Kyrie Irving departed for the Nets.
