The basketball world is starting to see why the Detroit Pistons took Cade Cunningham with the first overall pick in this year's draft. Cunningham moved up two spots in this week's NBA Rookie of the Year rankings. He capped off last week by becoming the youngest Pistons player to record a triple-double.

Cunningham had 13 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists against the LA Lakers. He's still struggling with his shot and not attacking the basket, but it's understandable since he's coming off an ankle injury. Nevertheless, Cunningham has made some noise and could move up again next week with Evan Mobley nursing an elbow injury.

Evan Mobley barely hangs on to second spot in this week's NBA Rookie of the Year rankings. Mobley did not play any games last week after suffering a sprained elbow. The Cleveland Cavaliers announced Mobley will miss at least two to four weeks. Before his injury, he was one of the favorites to win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award.

Mobley was averaging 14.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.6 blocks per game before his injury. He was also shooting 49.4% from the field and 30.8% from beyond the arc. Most importantly, the Cavaliers are 0-3 since Mobley went down with the injury.

Like Evan Mobley, Scottie Barnes of the Toronto Raptors barely hangs on to his spot in this week's NBA Rookie of the Year rankings. Barnes has cooled down after a hot start to the season, which means the race for the NBA Rookie of the Year Award is still wide open a month into the season.

Barnes had a bad week last week as he only averaged 7.3 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, while shooting just 30.0% from the field. If the fourth overall pick continues his struggles this week, don't be surprised if we have a new number one for next week's NBA Rookie of the Year rankings.
