Joel Embiid acknowledged that watching the 2010 Lakers and Kobe Bryant in the finals, he fell in love with basketball and instantly became a fan.
The big man was drafted as the 3rd overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers but due to injuries had to wait two seasons for the debut. In the 2016-17 season, his rookie season, he played only 31 games but managed to make it to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.
Despite having minutes restriction in the 2017-18 season he went on to average 22.9 points per game. Embiid can shoot the three ball well, has a solid mid-range, can post up and defends the rim. What more can we ask from a center?
During a regular season game against the Lakers, he scored a career-high 46 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, had 7 assists and 7 blocks. He was nominated for NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award last season.
In the coming season along with 2018 Rookie of the Year Ben Simmons, he would certainly look for a break out season.
Joel Embiid is a fun loving, hardworking person but sometimes finds himself involved in friendly trash talk with the players. His off game characteristics and hilarious tweets are surely loved by the fans.
