What's the rumor?

After missing out on their primary targets during the 2019 offseason, the New York Knicks have made another woeful start to the season. With a month of the season played, the Knicks possess a 4-13 record - which puts them at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.

With any possibility of contending this season already over, Hoops Rumors is reporting that the Knicks could make almost the entire roster available ahead of the trade deadline:

Outside of (RJ) Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, and maybe one or two other players, the Knicks will probably be willing to discuss just about anyone as the trade deadline nears.

In case you didn't know...

After trading Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks back in February, the Knicks entered the 2019 offseason with enough cap space to sign two superstars to max deals. However, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving decided to head to the Brooklyn Nets, and the Knicks subsequently responded by signing seasoned veterans to short term deals.

The heart of the matter

While the impressive young duo of Barrett and Robinson will be kept out of trade talks, no other member of the Knicks roster appears pivotal to the future of the franchise, and there could be somewhat of a firesale ahead of the trade deadline. Veterans such as Wayne Ellington, Reggie Bullock, and Taj Gibson are likely to be made available, while younger talents such as Frank Ntilikina and Dennis Smith Jr could also leave after failing to make much of an impact so far this season.

What's next?

Following a disappointing 101-103 loss to the Brooklyn Nets, the Knicks will be looking to pick up a rare win when they face the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night.
