Chris Paul has seen many things in his 19-year NBA career, but Victor Wembanyama appears to have found a new way to impress him. Paul, who was acquired by the San Antonio Spurs this past offseason, shared with the media the jaw-dropping skills that he's seen the big man display in team practices.

Based on what Paul shared, Wemby is continuing to work on the skills he showcased during his tremendous rookie season. At 7-foot-4, he has ballhandling abilities that are uncharacteristic for someone of his height.

On Friday, Paul talked about just how impressed he was with Wemby's uncanny skills.

"It's wild, I mean, to see the talent, especially Vic with his ball handling." Paul said about Wemby. "I mean he hit a running one-legged three today and I was looking, and I just remembered looking up and saying 'holy s**t that was a tough shot.'"

Most big men get their threes from set shots and catch-and-shoot opportunities. This isn’t the case for Victor Wembanyama. During his rookie season, he demonstrated that he could create space off the dribble, and with his height, he could easily hit shots from the perimeter.

Wemby, who is steadily improving his game, could become a legitimate inside-out threat with the addition of Chris Paul, who signed a one-year, $11 million dollar contract with the Spurs this past summer.

Chris Paul's experience can help Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs improve their record this season

The San Antonio Spurs are far from being the championship contenders they once were. During Victor Wembanyama's rookie season, they finished with a 22-60 record and missed the playoffs for the fifth straight year.

This upcoming season though, they added Chris Paul, a veteran with a reputation for elevating any team he joins. The first example of this was when he was traded to the LA Clippers ahead of the 2011-12 season. The Clippers already had a young rising star in Blake Griffin, who led the team to a 32-50 record in 2010-11. The following year, with Paul running the point, the team improved to 40-26.

This trend continued when he joined the Houston Rockets, with the team going from 55-27 in 2016-17 to an even more impressive 65-17 with Paul on the roster. The same happened with the Phoenix Suns, who finished the 2019-20 campaign with 34 wins but proceeded to get 51 victories in Paul's first season.

Of course, during these seasons, Paul was still at the top of his game. Now, he is entering his 20th season, and he isn't the All-Star caliber player he once was. However, the Spurs are hoping that his high basketball IQ and years of experience will translate into more wins.

The San Antonio Spurs have the right pieces to, at the very least, increase their 22 wins last season. The duo of Chris Paul and Victor Wembanyama can prove to be a deadly tandem, especially on the pick-and-roll.

However, other things will need to go right for the Spurs if they hope to win more. Other players will need to step up, and health will also be a major factor.
