San Antonio Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama has built on a strong rookie season with an impressive sophomore campaign. However, Spurs legend Tony Parker, a four-time NBA champion, shared his thoughts on what Wembanyama needs to do to cement his legacy with the franchise during an interview with Ashley Stroehlein on SiriusXM NBA Radio on Friday.

Parker asserted that Victor Wembanyama needs to win not one but multiple NBA championships. If he does, the reigning Rookie of the Year will cement his place as one of the franchise's all-time greats.

“If Victor wants to be considered as one of the best in the history, he's gonna have to create his own legacy. He [Victor Wembanyama] is going to have to win multiple championships because in the Spurs that’s what we expect.”

During their poor run last season, Wembanyama was one of San Antonio's shining lights. He averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists as the Spurs finished second from bottom with a 22-60 record.

This season has been an improvement, as they sit 12th in the West with a 20-22 record. However, it will take time for Wemby to reach the heights shown by Parker and the Spurs's championship-winning era.

Tony Parker won four NBA championships (2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014) during his storied career with the San Antonio Spurs. With a talented young roster, the Spurs are poised to contend for a playoff spot next season and potentially build a dynasty.
