Kevin Durant went back and forth with a fan for criticizing his 2022 NBA Playoffs loss against the Boston Celtics. Durant is known to be active on social media, particularly X, formerly Twitter. KD typically replies to fans, even if they spark debates with the basketball star.
One fan suggested that Durant's career has declined since leaving the Golden State Warriors in 2019.
"I think it’s time to admit Kevin Durants trajectory after leaving Golden State is very underwhelming," one fan said.

Durant took notice and initiated a debate with the fan. He pointed out that basketball is a team sport, which means that his "underwhelming" performances weren't completely his fault. Rather, it was due to a lack of chemistry as a unit.

Another fan then brought up the 2022 NBA Playoffs when the Brooklyn Nets faced the Boston Celtics in the first round. At the time, Kevin Durant was paired with Kyrie Irving at the Nets. Given how Durant stressed that basketball is a team sport, the other fan was curious why a star like Irving couldn't help him win at least one game against the Celtics.
Durant replied that even if they won one game in the series, the fan reaction would be the same. The fan then brought up how Allen Iverson never won a ring, which meant that losing the 2001 NBA Finals did nothing for his career in their opinion. KD then went to Iverson's rescue and defended his legacy.
"This a new day, iverson would be gettin clowned for not winning that series," Durant responded. "It’s just the way fans work in 2025. But I don’t think we tried to lose lol like they just beat us, if I would’ve retired and quit basketball after that then I would get the critiscm towards my mentality."
New NBA team expected to pursue Kevin Durant
Many rumors are circulating about Kevin Durant potentially getting traded to the San Antonio Spurs this offseason. While rumors by sports analyst Bill Simmons suggest that the trade has already taken place between the Phoenix Suns and Spurs, a new report suggests that the Miami Heat are expected to join the Durant trade sweepstakes.
Since the Heat let go of Jimmy Butler at the 2025 trade deadline, the team has turned to Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo as the two main attractions of South Beach. However, they're going to need a bit more star power if they want to compete in the Eastern Conference.
Sports analyst Evan Sidery reported that if the Heat and Suns come up with a deal, Miami can trade guys like Andrew Wiggins, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Duncan Robinson, and a few first-round picks in exchange for Kevin Durant.
