Rising superstar wing Anthony Edwards has been one of Team USA's biggest standouts at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Amid Edwards' successful Olympic debut, his former Minnesota Timberwolves teammate Taurean Prince reflected on his ascension, highlighting the key to his success.

Despite coming off the bench, Edwards has been Team USA's leading scorer through four group phase and knockout-round games, averaging 16.8 points per game. He has established himself as a go-to scoring option on the veteran-laden squad featuring several multiple-time Olympic gold medalists like LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Edwards' sensational Olympic run comes after he earned his second NBA All-Star selection and first All-NBA designation this past season. His elevated play helped the Timberwolves make their first Western Conference finals appearance since 2004.

Given Edwards' age (23), skill set and charismatic personality, many view him as the future face of the league. However, according to Prince, Edwards' coachability is what separates him from many of his peers.

On the "Run Your Race" podcast on Wednesday, Prince was asked if he knew Edwards would be this good. He concurred, recounting Edwards' relentless work ethic and willingness to learn early in his career.

"Hell yeah. Ant's best talent is he's coachable," Prince said. "... It's a different ball game when somebody that talented listens and doesn't think they've got it all figured out. [He's] in the gym always, whether it's shootaround, he's the last one in the gym. Whether it's practice, he's the last one in the gym."

Prince played two seasons with Edwards from 2021 to 2023, the latter's second and third seasons. Edwards faced high expectations during that time as the 2020 NBA draft's No. 1 pick. However, given his accomplishments thus far, he has arguably exceeded those expectations.

Steve Kerr says Olympics have provided Anthony Edwards with another learning experience

Throughout Team USA's 2024 Paris Olympic run, Anthony Edwards has received the opportunity to shadow his self-proclaimed idol, Kevin Durant. The two-time NBA champion has been working closely with Edwards, including on his shooting form. According to U.S. coach Steve Kerr, the experience should pay dividends for Edwards.

"This has been a great experience for him. He loves Kevin. Kevin is his idol. He is learning from him," Kerr said. "We’re trying to help him take another step. He is a very young player. The talent is overwhelming. And as he continues to learn how to use it and be efficient with his play, he will be unguardable."

Edwards and Co. next face Serbia in Thursday's semifinal matchup, a team they blew out 110-84 during group play. So, Edwards is only two wins away from securing his first Olympic gold medal ahead of his fifth NBA season.
