The LA Lakers are one of the top teams to monitor ahead of the NBA's trade deadline. One NBA analyst believes that the New York Knicks could be a potential trade partner for the Lakers.
With the NBA trade deadline inching closer, plenty of teams are actively trying to upgrade their rosters. One of those teams is the LA Lakers. After a slow start to the season, the Lakers are starting to show signs of life.
The Lakers are currently 13th in the Western Conference with a 20-24 record. Superstar big man Anthony Davis is out with a right foot injury but is expected to return soon. If the Lakers upgrade their roster, they will have a realistic path to making the playoffs. They do not have a lot of tradeable assets. Therefore, they will have to get creative if they want to make improvements.
During his appearance on ESPN's "NBA Today," analyst Bobby Marks discussed potential trade possibilities for the LA Lakers. Marks believes that they should target a veteran like San Antonio Spurs forward Josh Richardson.
He also suggested that the Lakers should pursue New York Knicks guard Immanuel Quickley in a trade.
“With one of those other picks, the 2027 [first round pick]. I don’t want Knicks fans to freak out when I say this, this is about the Lakers right now. A player like Immanuel Quickley, that's the type of player that the Lakers are going to need to target here..."

The LA Lakers are connected to numerous players on the trade market. Time will tell if general manager Rob Pelinka will be able to pull off a significant deal.
The Lakers don't have a lot of valuable assets to offer other organizations. Their 2023 first-round pick will be conveyed to the New Orleans Pelicans via the Anthony Davis trade.
Despite the fact that Russell Westbrook has turned his game around, it's unlikely that he will be in high demand on the trade market. Westbrook is set to become a free agent after the season. He currently $47 million cap hit.
The Lakers have started to trend in the right direction. With LeBron James thriving and Anthony Davis close to making his return, the Lakers need to strike now before it's too late.
