Boston Celtics guard showers heavy praise on Jaylen Brown amid exit rumors - "He's the best shooting guard in the league"

Jaylen Brown has hinted that he is open to leaving the Boston Celtics. The two-time All-Star could wind up with about $290 million reasons to stay, however, as an All-NBA appearance will put him in line for a supermax extension. While it is unclear if the Celtics would offer him that amount, one of his teammates certainly believes he should wind up on the All-NBA Team.

Speaking to Jay King of The Athletic, Celtics guard Malcolm Brogdon advocated for his star teammate, stating:

"He'll be All-NBA. He'll make one of the teams this year. He's the best shooting guard in the league."

While it is unclear if Jaylen Brown will be considered as a guard or forward on All-NBA ballots, he will face plenty of competition to make the team in either position. Brown has averaged 27.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.1 spg and 0.4 bpg while shooting 49.4% from the field, 34.3% from 3-point range and 76.9% from the free-throw line this season.

If Brown is unable to make an All-NBA Team, he will remain eligible for a contract extension with the Boston Celtics. It is unlikely, however, that he would agree to an extension as the current collective bargaining agreement allows him to earn much more money by waiting for free agency next summer if he doesn't qualify for the supermax.

What did Jaylen Brown say about leaving the Boston Celtics?

While Jaylen Brown has been a pivotal piece in the Boston Celtics' success, his name has consistently appeared in trade rumors. The two-time All-Star expressed that he could be willing to leave the franchise when he becomes a free agent, stating:

"I don’t know. As long as I’m needed. It’s not up to me. We’ll see how they feel about me over time and I feel about them over time. Hopefully, whatever it is, it makes sense. But I will stay where I’m wanted. I will stay where I’m needed and treated correct. I just enjoy the time that you have now. If it’s your whole career, it’s your whole career. If it’s not, it’s not."

Brown has spent his entire seven-year career with the Boston Celtics. While the franchise may have failed to make the star feel wanted, they will certainly have an opportunity to smooth things over if he qualifies for the supermax.
