The Minnesota Timberwolves recently took up a fan's challenge to change their X/Twitter profile picture to fan-favorite big man Naz Reid. However, their photo choice evoked comical NBA fan reactions, with many roasting the team's social media manager.
Reid, who went undrafted in the 2019 NBA draft, has developed a cult-like following over his first five seasons. Minnesota fans often use his name as a greeting, with some even getting it tattooed. Meanwhile, others have yard signs of his face.
On Tuesday, the Timberwolves continued the Reid hype, replying to X user @JJETTAS_WR1's request to "make the Naz Reid picture [their] profile picture."

"Aight, bet," the team's X account said.

However, the franchise used a screenshot of Reid from its recent video featuring its players using a far-apart eyes filter.
"#NewProfilePic," the account tweeted.
Afterward, fans began questioning Minnesota's X admin's thinking.
"Whoever is in charge of our Timberwolves account is wild for this," @Smoove00777 said.
"Change this, admin. What’s wrong with you?" @CFC_HIMthony wrote.
"Why, admin, why?" @WorldLoopNFL said.
Meanwhile, others quipped that the Timberwolves did Reid dirty with their profile picture choice.
"Nah, y’all violated with this," @PrizePicks said.
"Naz Reid after hitting the galaxy gas," @LulTjayyy wrote.
One fan also noted that the now-deleted infamous Minnesota fan account "Timberwolves Brasil," known for posting outlandish content, was superior at trolling.
"Brazil Timberwolves was better," @DontBetOnTatum said.
However, a couple of hours later, the Timberwolves' X admin seemingly heeded fans' complaints, updating the team's profile picture to a normal photo of Reid.
"Sorry, wrong pic, LOL. #NewProfilePic," the account tweeted.

As for Naz Reid's thoughts on his immense fan support, he expressed gratefulness to Minnesota's fanbase early in his squad's 2024 playoff run.
"It’s special, it’s one of a kind," Reid said during a TNT interview. "It’s something that you kind of dream of growing up, especially at the highest level in the NBA."
Reid added that his strong work ethic has seemingly resonated with fans, garnering him much-deserved respect.
"They've seen me work from Day 1," Reid said. "Since the moment I got here, I changed my body, I changed my mentality, I changed the direction that I wanted to go in life. I think it kind of deserves that."
Reid is coming off a career-best season, winning Sixth Man of the Year. He played a critical role for a Timberwolves team that made its first Western Conference finals appearance since 2004. Reid and Co. will look to take the next step this upcoming season and help Minnesota secure its first-ever NBA Finals berth.
