Damian Lillard was in a different situation with the Milwaukee Bucks, after playing in 11 seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers. He was placed in a position where he could contend for a championship alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Despite coming up short of an NBA title last season, Lillard is upbeat. He shared his latest workout session with ultramarathon runner David Goggins, which had Bucks fans ecstatic.

During the 2023-24 season, Damian Lillard averaged 24.3 points (42.4% shooting, including 35.4% from 3-point range), 7.0 assists and 4.4 rebounds in the 73 games he played. His shotmaking efficiency dipped compared to previous years, which could be attributed to the new system he is playing under.

The Bucks guard's workout session was shared by user '@34for2' on X.

"Dame training with David Goggins. It's over for the league for real."

Many X users were optimistic about Lillard's offseason progress and have expectations of a promising 2023-24 outing.

"Dame looked like he was about to pass out! If he can keep up this level of training for more than just a couple of weeks in the offseason, it will probably help his durability issues," the fan posted.
"Once he gets that first step back," this fan posted.
"Dame is a world class athlete and Goggins kicking his a** lol. Dame's going to be a beast this year though," another fan posted.
"Dammit, Goggins is my favorite. I have no doubt that was the hardest training session of Dame's life," the fan posted.

Getting the proper conditioning is critical as one prepares for another 82-game grind. It is setting up to be another excellent year for the eight-time NBA All-Star.

Bucks coach revealed that Damian Lillard was not in the best shape entering his first season in Milwaukee

During an appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast's June 12 episode, Bucks coach Doc Rivers talked about Lillard not being in his usual best shape compared to past seasons.

"We were at dinner and he said, 'Coach, I didn't work out all summer. It's the first time in my life that I've not worked out'," Rivers narrated. "'I was so scared of getting injured working out'. He knew he was going to get traded. He said, 'I did some light running. I did some shooting with no one in the gym. But I didn't go [hard] at all'."

Aside from some light shooting in an open gym, Damian Lillard did not perform his regular workout routine to get in the best condition for the upcoming season.

It could be because he wants an injury-free season and is continuing to monitor how his current situation with the Trail Blazers pans out.

Given his latest workout session, it seems that Lillard has now decided to go a different route with his offseason preparations.
