Caitlin Clark named as 2023 National Player of the Year: Taking a look at her sensational NCAA career

Iowa star guard Caitlin Clark has continued to impress her team and fans during this year's NCAA Tournament. Her recent performances have further put her on the map as one of the country's best college athletes, and even past basketball greats have acknowledged that.

The 6-foot guard won the Naismith Women's College Player of the Year award on Wednesday. The award was given to her days after her historic performance in leading the No. 2 seed Hawkeyes over the No. 5 seed Louisville Cardinals in the Elite Eight with 41 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.

She wasn't the only one to win an award. Aliyah Boston of South Carolina won the Naismith Women's College Defensive Player of the Year.

Clark and the Hawkeyes have made it all the way to the Final Four, where they'll face South Carolina on Friday.

Caitlin Clark shares success after receiving award

After it was announced that Caitlin Clark was named the national college player of the year, she shared her appreciation for her team.

"When I was here in Minnesota last year, my goal was to be here with my team. That's the most important thing to me, is to be at the Final Four, competing with my team," Clark said.

"I know this award isn't possible without every single one of you back there, and I truly mean that. So, it's just as much yours as it is mine, and same thing with our coaches.

"It's been a long journey, but it's a super fun one. You know, ups and downs, hardships. But I'm just super thankful. And to the committee that votes for this, our game has grown so much, I know this is a super hard decision and it could go to any single player."

The job isn't over for Clark as Iowa will battle South Carolina in the Final Four on Friday.
