"Catwoman saving Gotham City": Fans react to OG Anunoby's 'hot streak' post-Anne Hathaway encounter

On Nov. 13, New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby nearly crashed into actress Anne Hathaway who was sitting courtside during the game against the Chicago Bulls at Madison Square Garden. Instead of being shaken up, Hathaway was completely unfazed and said the experience was part of her bucket list.

Since then, Anunoby has been on fire, averaging 24.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game on 45.2% from beyond the arc. The Knicks have gone 5-1, picking up notable wins over the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets.

Given that Anunoby has been on a hot streak since the incident with Hathaway, Knicks fans were quick to weigh in on the matter.

Tom Thibodeau reacts to Knicks 145-118 win over the Denver Nuggets, where OG Anunoby logged a career-high 40 points

On Monday, OG Anunoby and the New York Knicks traveled to Denver and faced reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets. While Denver was riding the momentum of a 127-102 win over the LA Lakers into the game, Tom Thibodeau's Knicks were able to pick up a big win on the road.

Anunoby, who has long been praised as an elite defender, showed his offensive mettle as he recorded a career-high 40 points in 38 minutes of action.

What made Anunoby's feat even more impressive was that he shot 69.6% and 71.4% from downtown, knocking down five of his seven 3-point attempts.

In addition, the team racked up a franchise-high 45 assists. Thibodeau spoke to the media about it after the win.

“That’s what I liked about the game," Thibodeau said. "I thought the team has been very unselfish all year long.
"We’re creating good shots, and we’re finding the guy who has a hot hand or a good matchup, but we’re doing it through movement, and that’s everyone working together to create the right shots. When we do that, we’re an excellent offensive team.”

The Knicks are 10-7 and fourth in the Eastern Conference behind the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic. They will be back in action on Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks on the road.
