On Wednesday, former NBA star DeMarcus Cousins was punished by the Puerto Rican basketball league. The former Sacramento Kings center had an altercation with a heckling fan after he scratched his crotch area and made the fan sniff his hands afterwards. The situation escalated as the two had to be separated during the game.
Boogie - currently playing for the Guaynabo Mets, the team he played for in 2023 and rejoined in 2025 following his 2022 stint with the Denver Nuggets - played his first game of his second stint in May but was recently issued a suspension because of the incident.
During the game against Vaqueros de Bayamon on Monday, the four-time All-Star was ejected. On his way out, he dealt with the fans, who threw their drinks and food at the former NBA star.

According to Complex News, Boogie has been suspended for the rest of the regular season and fined $4,250 due to a “disqualifying foul, a technical foul, and acts that incite violence or provocation.”

According to the Baloncesto Superior Nacional, the Puerto Rican basketball league, Cousins must show cause. Doing so will allow him to defend himself and not allow an additional $5,750 in fines. His fines could increase to at least $10,000 if he fails to do so.
DeMarcus Cousins has not addressed his experience with the fans that led to an ugly end.
After Denver, the big man played in various international leagues. His first overseas experience was in Puerto Rico - leading the Mets to the 2023 playoffs. He then spent two seasons at Taiwan Beer Leopards - joined in December 2023 and re-signed in 2024 - and earned the Most Popular Player of the Year and Finals MVP awards.
He then returned to Puerto Rico in April.
