Veteran point guard Dennis Schroder made his Golden State Warriors debut during Thursday's road matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies. On Sunday, Golden State acquired Schroder and a 2025 second-round draft pick from the Brooklyn Nets. It sent back injured guard De'Anthony Melton, two-way contract guard Reece Beekman and three future second-rounders. Schroder was subsequently ruled out of the team's 143-133 home loss to the Dallas Mavericks the same day. However, four days later, Warriors coach Steve Kerr opted to start the 12-year veteran in his backcourt alongside superstar point guard Steph Curry.Schroder didn't take long to make his first basket with his new squad, rattling in a pull-up midrange jumper early in the first quarter. A few minutes later, he recorded his first assist, setting up teammate Andrew Wiggins for a four-point play. However, Schroder missed his next few offensive looks, including bricking an open 3-pointer late in the first quarter. The 2023 FIBA World Cup MVP ultimately started slow, shooting 1-for-5 (20.0%) while racking up two turnovers across nine first-quarter minutes. Meanwhile, Golden State fell behind 37-15 after the opening stanza.Schroder's offensive woes continued in the second quarter, as he went scoreless on four shot attempts. Concurrently, the Warriors' deficit ballooned to 31 points at halftime (69-38).The German's debut proved short-lived as Golden State continued getting hammered in the second half, digging a 57-point hole. Schroder played sparingly amid the beatdown, converting just one second-half basket on three tries as the Warriors fell 144-93.Dennis Schroder's full stat line is as follows:PlayerMINPTSREBASTSTLBLKTOPFFG3PTFT+/-Dennis Schroder2252500422/12 (16.7%)0/4 (0.0%)1/2 (50.0%)-34Also Read: Dennis Schroder's wife Ellen drops 3-word reaction on son's hilarious remarks about father's Warriors tradeWarriors drop third consecutive game in Dennis Schroder's debut, on verge of falling out of Western Conference play-in pictureThursday's loss in Dennis Schroder's debut marked Golden State's third straight and ninth in its last 11 outings. The Warriors (14-12) continue to lose ground in the crowded Western Conference standings.
