D.J. Augustin signs with Houston Rockets

After being a free agent for a majority of this season, D.J. Augustin has found a home. ESPN's Adrain Wojnarowski reported on Wednesday that the veteran point guard has agreed to terms on a deal with the Houston Rockets for the remainder of this season.

Augustin, 35, hasn't been on a roster since the end of last season. He played for the Rockets and LA Lakers last season, finishing with 21 games for the Lakers and averaging 5.3 points and 1.6 assists.

The move is a homecoming as Augustin spent time with the Houston Rockets in 2020-21 and 2021-22. He was traded there in March 2021 after starting the 2020-21 season with the Milwaukee Bucks. In 54 games with the franchise, he averaged 7.3 points and 2.8 assists.

What's more, originally from New Orleans, Augustin's family was displaced to the Houston area because of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He played his senior year at Hightower High School in Missouri City, Texas, before going to the University of Texas, where he played with Kevin Durant when both were freshmen in 2006-07.

This will be Augustin's 15th season in the NBA. He was the No. 9 pick in the 2008 NBA draft.
