Does Shawn Kemp own a cannabis business?

Since his retirement from the NBA, Shawn Kemp has gotten into the cannabis business. "Kemps Cannabis" is based out of Seattle and offers a wide variety of options for online sales and delivery.

Before starting his own cannabis store, Shawn Kemp enjoyed 14 years in the NBA. He was the 17th overall pick in 1989 and spent most of his career with the Seattle SuperSonics.

The high-flying forward played in over 1,000 games in his career and finished with averages of 14.6 points and 8.4 rebounds. His final run in the league came in the 2003 season, when he played in 79 games for the Orlando Magic.

Most NBA fans know Kemp for his high-flying poster dunks, but now he is known for something different.

Kemp opened his first cannabis store in the area of Belltown, and the six-time All-Star recently launched a second location in the SODO neighborhood of Seattle. Kemp prides himself on offering a welcome environment to those who are new to cannabis.

The NBA star launched his cannabis business with his business partner Tran Du. Now, they have multiple locations and over 3,000 products for customers to choose from.

Shawn Kemp pays homage to NBA career in cannabis store

While Shawn Kemp is enjoying his new career, he has not forgotten his life before the cannabis business. In fact, he uses it as an inspiration for his store.

As the prominent figure of the business, most customers likely go to Kemp's store because they were a fan of him or the Seattle SuperSonics. Luckily for them, the store gives them a blast to the past of the 90's NBA.

Along with having a pair of "NBA Jam" arcade games in the store, Kemp has countless pictures from his playing days. A story from the Washington Post stated there are numerous photos of some of his most eye-popping plays.

"The walls are decorated with a neon sign and photos of the kinds of skull-rattling dunks that made Kemp a six-time NBA all-star. Outside, there’s a giant mural of Kemp in various poses."

Since the store has opened, other NBA players have come to stop by and check out what he has done. One of the most notable being Hall of Fame guard Gary Payton. He and Kemp were running mates in Seattle for most of the 1990's.

Some players struggle to find a life after basketball, but that doesn't appear to be the case for Kemp.
