Draymond Green makes a case to be in NBA's Hall of Fame if "you know the game of basketball"

Golden State Warriors v New York Knicks
Does Draymond Green deserve to be inducted in the NBA Hall of Fame?

Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green legitimately believes he is a candidate for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Green claimed that people who understand basketball will realize exactly why he should be an inductee at the end of his career. The 32-year-old has already won 4 Championships and has 4- All-Star appearances, and has been a big part of the Golden State Warriors’ success in the last decade or so.

In an interview, Green said:

“The way I thought about the Hall of Fame thing was if you come to this game, and you immediately set out speaking to me about being a Hall of Famer, you probably believe I’m a Hall of Famer. Because you didn’t come to talk to anybody else about being a Hall of Famer. We know Steph’s a Hall of Famer. And so, why would you come to talk to me about that? There must be something there. It was the telling me that I was scared that set me off.”

Draymond Green spoke to The Athletic and went on to claim that he is not going to be an All-Star with respect to his statistics:

“And that’s what I’ve always said. I think I’ll — and I hope I’ll — be in the Hall of Fame. But my route won’t be the typical route. You won’t go and look at my stats and say, “This guy’s a surefire Hall of Famer.” But if you know the game of basketball, and you look at the game of basketball, then I think I have a case. That’s kind of how I look at it. No, my path to the Hall of Fame won’t be the typical path guys take to the Hall of Fame. And I still have work to do and continue to build, but I think I can make a solid case.”

Draymond Green has been instrumental behind the Golden State Warriors’ success

Draymond Green has established himself as one of the league's premier power forwards and brings a lot to the Golden State Warriors' team. Over the years, he has developed into one of the league's most versatile and effective players, earning him numerous accolades and awards. Along with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, he is the Warriors' most important player of the last decade.

Apart from 4 All-Stars, Draymond Green has also been named to the NBA All-Defensive Team four times and the NBA All-NBA Third Team once. He has won three NBA championships with the Warriors in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022.

One of Green's biggest strengths is his defensive abilities. He is known for his ability to guard multiple positions and his high basketball IQ. He is a great rebounder and an excellent passer, averaging 6.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game in his career. Another strength is his leadership, he is known to be a vocal leader and one of the most respected players in the league.

There is an obvious case to be inducted as a Hall of Famer, and Draymond Green will feel hard done by if it never comes.
