Enes Freedom has spoken out against the NBA along with his outlandish remarks. He's said multiple times that the league is blackballing him, which is why he hasn't been able to land with a team.
Freedom was recently back at it again, making comments about the league. His latest remarks involved "exposing" the NBA for what it is:
“I’m gonna expose your hypocrisy to the world & I’m going to do it with a smile on my face. That is a promise.”
Another of his recent attacks was a sarcastic Tweet to LeBron James congratulating him on passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the league's all-time leading scorer.
Freedom was originally born Enes Kanter in Switzerland but changed his last name after he became a United States citizen in 2021. The name change was meant to reflect his fight for freedom throughout the early years of his life.
When did Enes Freedom last play in the NBA?
Before allegedly being blackballed from the league, Enes Freedom had a career that spanned 11 seasons. His journey began in 2011 when the Utah Jazz drafted him with the third overall pick.
Freedom spent the first three years in the NBA with the Jazz before he was traded to the OKC Thunder. From there, he had brief stints with the New York Knicks, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Boston Celtics.
The journeyman center went on to play 748 games and post career averages of 11.2 points and 7.8 rebounds. Freedom is not far removed from his playing days, as he was on a roster last season. The 30-year-old played 36 games for the Boston Celtics before being released. In that stretch, he averaged 3.7 points and 4.6 rebounds.
While he might feel he's being blackballed, Freedom isn't helping himself by constantly attacking the league. No team will willingly take on that kind of baggage for a player who is a backup at best at this point.
Seeing that he is constantly finding ways to speak out against the NBA, it's fair to assume Freedom will never be on a roster again. Only time will tell if he backs up his comments of "exposing" the league.
