Exclusive: Walt Williams is in awe of LeBron James acing records in major categories: “The mileage on this 38-year-old is just unreal” 

Earlier this week, LeBron James achieved a milestone that many thought wasn't possible. After two decades in the league, the LA Lakers star passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA's all-time leading scorer.

There are many reasons why LeBron James should be seen as the greatest of all time, and his longevity is among the most important. To put it simply, no player has ever been this good for such a long period of time.

At age 38, LeBron is still a top talent in the league. In 44 games this season, he is averaging 30.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists.

During a recent installment of Sportskeeda's "Ball Father" podcast, former NBA player Walt Williams spoke to Reggie Roberts about this historic run. As someone who spent over a decade in the league, he is amazed by what the 19-time All-Star has been able to do in his career.

"I didn't think anyone was going to be able to score as much as Kareem, no way."

"To see the way he's playing in what his 19th season, man to see the way he's playing. 38 is older but that's no too unimaginable for a 38-year-old putting in that work, but the mileage on this 38-year-old is just unreal."

Walt Williams believes LeBron James doesn't get the credit he deserves

After LeBron James passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the all-time scoring list, debates ensued on if the LA Lakers star is the greatest scorer ever. Despite breaking a record that nobody thought would ever be touched, he isn't being seen in that regard.

While speaking with Reggie Roberts, Walt Williams opened up on LeBron not getting the credit he deserves as a scorer.

"People still don't give him the credit of being a lethal scorer. I think it's because of all the other things he can do. He's the fourth all-time assists leader, tenth all-time steals. You look at all these things he can do it just takes away from him scoring in some respects."

Williams brings up a valid point. It's hard to see LeBron James as an elite scorer when there are so many ways he impacts a basketball game. Part of why he isn't seen in this light is because he's mainly been known as a facilitator.

With the record now in tact, it's time to start putting LeBron in the conversation among the best scorers in NBA history. He is a one-time scoring champion and has averaged at least 25 points per game in 19 of his 20 seasons.
