The Miami Heat vs Philadelphia 76ers game saw Joel Embiid get on the highlight reels for all the wrong reasons. The superstar was blocked on a layup attempt by Cody Zeller, and NBA fans couldn't resist sending in some hilarious reactions to the play.

Monday night's matchup between the Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers posed to be an exciting one. The two teams have had some beef over the past few seasons, which makes every iteration of the matchup rather heated.

Monday's game was played in Philly and was the first matchup between the two teams this season. The 76ers also have a rather daunting record at home, which makes them tough to beat.

Led by their superstar duo of Joel Embiid and James Harden, the 76ers set out to improve their record. Unfortunately, Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat had other ideas.

A ferocious battle saw the tides turn several times over the course of four quarters. However, the Heat marginally came out on top with a 99-101 win.

Several offensive plays from both sides could be considered highlights for the game. However, there was one play in particular that caught everyone watching the game off-guard.

Given Embiid's reputation as a scoring machine, the big man was cleared for yet another easy bucket on a fastbreak. However, Heat center Cody Zeller had other ideas.

By running the floor hard, Zeller managed to prevent an open layup for Embiid with a ridiculous chasedown block.

Zeller, who is not particularly known for his athleticism, had the crowd on their feet with the play. With fans at home also in shock, some sent in hilarious reactions to Embiid getting blocked.

Although Joel Embiid getting blocked by Cody Zeller made for an interesting highlight reel, the Heat practically had their hands full trying to contain the big man. In the process of stacking up 12 rebounds against Miami, the Philadelphia 76ers superstars also dropped 27 points on the team.

A 27 and 12 performance is undoubtedly an impressive one. To Miami's credit, however, they managed to keep Embiid below his scoring average for the season.

Joel Embiid currently leads the league in scoring with an astronomical 33.1 points per game. While additionally being top 10 in the league in rebounding as well, Embiid certainly makes a solid claim to being MVP.

Unfortunately, for all Embiid's brilliance, the 76ers haven't posed as much of a threat in the East as they would have hoped. With a 1-2 record since returning from the All-Star break, Philadelphia are currently facing a two-game losing streak.

The 76ers are currently four games behind the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics. With another game in Miami up next, Philadelphia will hope to cut the gap.
