Gregg Popovich lauds LeBron James for handling criticism throughout his career: “For something like him, I can’t even fathom, it was super”

LeBron James entered the NBA with more hype and expectations than any other player in modern history. He had multiple nationally televised high school basketball games and the school, St. Vincent St. Mary’s had to move home games from their school gym to the University of Akron to accommodate the crowds.

James has lived up to expectations and proven to be one of the best players of all-time. One person with high praise for him is San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.

The five-time championship winning coach spoke about the Lakers star, who they play this evening for the second time in two days. Popovich stated how LeBron faced some much unfair criticism throughout his career. He said:

"If he made a pass, somebody said, ‘He should’ve shot it.’ If he shot the ball, it was, ‘He should’ve passed it.’ It really would anger me...The guy was doing everything great and handling himself, great. Young kid with all of that attention and doing what he was doing."

Coach Popovich is correct in that LeBron James has had a lot put upon him. He has been the face of the league for a long time and a constant professional who hasn’t had any major scandals to speak of. He has always tried to be a good ambassador for the game of basketball.

James has also had incredible success. He has four NBA Championships to his credit, while reaching the NBA Finals ten times over the course of his career. He is an 18-time All-NBA selection, with four league MVP awards and four Finals MVPs.

LeBron James and the Lakers are begining to Surge

The Lakers started off the season as possibly one of the worst teams in the NBA, but have now won five of its last 6 games after beating the Spurs for the second time in a row tonight. While LeBron James was out, Anthony Davis had an all-time four-game run.

James has rejoined the team and they appear to be on to something. The team is now 7-11 for the season. If they can continue their winning ways, they would be above .500 in no time.

The NBA season is very long and there will be some wins and some losses. If the Lakers keep winning more often, they may be able to make the playoffs.
