The 2024 Summer Olympic games are still some time away, but they are already garnering a lot of buzz. Earlier this week, France announced their mascot for the event as they will play host. Unfortunately, it did not go as well as they may have hoped.
After unveiling their red triangular mascot, the internet quickly rushed to chime in with their thoughts. Some then began comparing them to a female body part. It's unclear if France will change this before the 2024 Summer Olympic games, but things are not off to a great start.

With the NBA's top stars coming from all over the world, some countries have grown to be much more competitive over the years. That being said, here are the top three contenders for a gold medal in 2024.
3) Australia
Coming in at number three is a team that shocked many last Olympics, Australia. They are always a team that plays hard, and walked away with a bronze medal during the Tokyo games in 2020.
Currently, their roster is filled with young and veteran NBA talent. Some of the notable names include Patty Mills, Matisse Thybulle, Joe Ingles, Josh Giddey, and Josh Green.
Following an impressive run last Olympics, they should be seen as a threat as their young talent continues to improve. Heading into the 2024 Summer Olympic games, Australia should be seen as a dark horse.
2) United States
This might seem shocking to have the United States at second, but their recent history has been hit or miss. While they managed to win gold in 2020, they started off very shaky.
Another reason why the United States is always an unknown is because you never know who is going to make the trip. Gone are the days where the league's top stars band together to represent their country. With Kevin Durant and LeBron James being in the twilight of their careers, new stars need to emerge to carry the torch of USA men's basketball.
1) France
Coming in at the top spot for the 2024 Summer Olympic games is the host country, France. Like Australia, they have a good batch of NBA talent. More importantly, they continue to get more.
When they won the silver medal in 2020, some of their veterans included Rudy Gobert, Evan Fournier, and Nic Batum. In 2024, France has the chance to add Joel Embiid and top draft prospect Victor Vembanyama. If both players decide to join, Team France will be a force to be reckoned with.
